COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course provides Basic Electronics awareness as it applies to Data Communication. It includes a break down of atomic structure and a definition of all components that effect digital and analog signals as they are transferred down a copper media. It will also define cause and effect of Electromagnetism and Radio Frequency and there effects on data transfer. Upon completion of this course the attendees will understand Digital and Analog Signals, Impedance, Voltage, Current, Resistance and Signal Loss. Attendees will be confident and be able to respond to client inquiries about data link problems and problems that may arise because of non-compliant data transfer cabling and termination. All attendees will be tested for comprehension of theory. Included in the course will be a glossary of terms that are used in the cabling industry. By meeting the requirements of this course, attendees will have a complete understanding of data copper media and its problems, offering a confident working environment for employees. After successfully completing the course attendees will receive a certificate of completion authorized by NC&C.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Kenneth J McLean

Kenneth J McLean has specializing in the data communication field for the last 25 years. Having worked in a manufacturing, distribution, installation environment and business ownership, he is experienced in all facets of data communications topology design, fabrication, and implementation. His experience ranges from working with large and small Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks in campus environments. Seeing a need for training in the Connectivity Physical Layer, Kenneth has opened a training center and has written curriculum for the correct installation of infrastructure wiring for the technicians in the field. Kenneth is currently the owner of a Premise Wiring Distribution and Installation Company, which presents solutions to connectivity problems and the environment in which these solutions are needed.
